i'm getting all misty-eyed here, so i'll hold comments till i can be sure i won't say sumthin' too mushy.
cat, all i can say is i'm glad you're my friend. you've inspired me to start drawing again. the other day i did a sketch while sitting in my car, waiting for a storm to pass. can't seem to get a good scan of it but i'll try and post it.
here's a crappy, muddy scan. the next time i get hold of a macro lens i'll shoot it. half the detail and texture doesn't come through. anyway, it's, of course, a bic pen Maui
I never know what to say because it always seems like I'm intruding, but I like both pictures.

thanks, cat. i plan on carrying a sketch book around. and, since i have no formal fine art training and don't ever plan on getting it, i've decided to use whatever disproportionate and bizarrely shaped maui illustration comes forth for maui's short story/book. to hell with formal and correct. it's a book about how maui gets his markings. yay!
